Spirit of Cricket

“Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its Laws but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to the game itself”                            ECB – The Spirit of Cricket

As members (players & supporters) of OWCC you carry the colours and follow the footsteps of some great ambassadors of cricket who have represented the club over the past 100+ years of its history. It is essential that all current members maintain and improve a code of conduct that supports the Spirit of Cricket.

The Spirit of the Game involves RESPECT for:

   Your opponents

   Your own captain and team

   The role of umpires

   The games traditional values

All family members of the club and visiting supporters

It is against the Spirit of the Game:

To dispute an umpire’s decision by word, action , or gesture

To direct abusive language to an opponent, umpire, club member or any visitor to the club

To indulge in cheating or any sharp practice

All members are expected to take pride in their club and conduct themselves in a way that complies with this spirit.

“ OWCC is a family club that respects the rights of all to take part in and enjoy the game of cricket. Its aim is to provide players with an enjoyable environment in which to take part and compete, and for all members and visitors to feel welcome at all times”
